Grant Awarded to Metheringham Airfield Visitor Centre

We are pleased to announce that and particularly with thanks to two of our Trustees Barry and Caterina that Metheringham Airfield Visitor Centre has been awarded an ‘Open Grant’ for just over £4600.

So with this support from the Art Fund, Arts Council, England and Museum Development Midlands we will be able to provide some new conservation grade robust metal racking for one of our museum stores, new special covers for some of our clothing collection and most excitingly we are working with Lincoln Conservation and students at the University of Lincoln School of Humanities & Heritage, who will be carrying out some surface cleaning on some of our clothing collection.

Curator Caterina said “We are really pleased to have been awarded the grant from the MDM Open Grant Scheme and excited to be working with the University of Lincoln. To have received the grant means so much to our small independent museum. We rely mainly on funding for our activities through memberships, and visitors coming to our museum so for us to have this grant to care for our museum’s collection is fantastic. Having professional work done on some of the museum’s clothing is a great opportunity to work with Lincoln Conservation and the students and we hope their knowledge and expertise can help us develop some new interpretation for these items in the future.”
