Lightning Day at Tangmere Military Aviation Museum near Chichester, West Sussex.

The Tangmere Lightning Day celebrates the 70th Anniversary of the first flight of the English Electric P.1A – forerunner of the mighty Lightning interceptor – in August 1954.

Meet four of its former pilots and hear about their experiences flying the first and last all-British supersonic fighter!

Schedule of Events
10am. Museum opens. Refreshments may be purchased in The Cockpit Café.
The first Lightning talk commences at 10.30am in the Neville Duke Hall, by the main entrance to the car park.
The talks are scheduled to last for 45 minutes to allow about 15 minutes for questions.

12.30 BREAK - If desired, lunch may be purchased in The Cockpit Café.

4pm End of Lightning Event
5pm Museum Closes

The Museum’s Lightning F.53 is displayed in the Meryl Hansed Memorial Hall and a Lightning Simulator ‘flight’ may be booked at Reception.
