On 13th September, at 2pm, Kenley Revival will be supporting a special screening of “The Shamrock Spitfire” at the David Lean Cinema, Croydon - it is an award-winning drama based on the life of “Paddy” Finucane, the Irish ace who rose to fame flying with 452 (Australia) and 602 Squadrons at Kenley and Redhill.

Although Ireland was neutral throughout the war, Finucane joined the RAF, and having scored an impressive number of kills in the Battle of Britain, was given the command of a squadron of Aussie pilots, and at just 21, holds the record as the youngest ever RAF wing commander. The Shamrock Spitfire “is an intriguing military footnote explored with style, and the affable yet somehow melancholic O’Regan is on strong form” (The Guardian).
