As part of Open House Festival 2023, we will be opening the air raid shelters in two of RAF Kenley’s blast pens on 10th and 16th September, from 11am – 3pm.

Kenley’s blast pens are all slightly different from one another. This is a very rare chance to see two on opposite sides of the airfield that have shelters constructed by completely different methods..

All welcome, no booking required.

There is free roadside parking on Hayes Lane adjacent to the RAF Kenley Tribute, which is one of the Fighter pens we will be opening. From there it is roughly a one mile walk around the perimeter track to the other Fighter pen, which is on the opposite side of the airfield.
The surface is level hard-standing, but is uneven in places due to its age.
