Historic objects have the capacity to illustrate remarkable stories and can bring history to life through discovery, exploration and reflection.

Our film series Every Object Tells a Story highlights some of the extraordinary objects from aviation heritage collections across England, from entire aircraft to things you can hold in one hand, with commentary from the staff and volunteers who care for them.

The First Flight of the TG-3a at The Gliding Heritage Centre

Join Gary Pullen on the first ever flight of a Schweizer TG-3a in the United Kingdom at Lasham Airfield, the home of The Gliding Heritage Centre.
This is one of only two TG-3 gliders known to be flying anywhere in the world out of the 114 that were originally built.

Our TG-3 was originally on display at the American Air Museum at IWM Duxford before it came to the collection in May 2022, it was used to train pilots who were to fly Waco CG-4 Hadrian Cargo/Troop gliders in the D-Day Landings in 1944.
